Danish withdrawal due to the Iraqi Resistance

By Carsten Kofoed, Free Iraq Blog of Denmark, February 23, 2007

The Fogh Rasmussen government went to war on a lie, and is now trying to sell the withdrawal of the 500 Danish occupation troops from Iraq – the defeat – with another lie: that the Iraqi puppet regime can take control over Basra in August.

The facts are that since the beginning of the occupation the situation for the Danish occupiers and their Iraqi stooges has gone from bad to worse. Iraqi translators working for the Danes are now living on the military base where the Danes also stay most of the time together with their British superiors. Outside the base, the Resistance is waiting with eyes and ears everywhere.

The Danish withdrawal has happened with full US acceptance and in return for an increased Danish military contribution to the fight against the strengthened freedom struggle of the Afghan people. That the UK and Denmark get permission from their American big brother to withdraw troops shows that the US is really on retreat in Iraq. The Iraqi Resistance is defeating the “Coalition”. And the planner of the resistance struggle, the martyr Saddam Hussein, is smiling from his grave.
